Please ride your bike to political rallies & meetings
OK my friends, this is the time! No matter your political leanings, please ride your bike to political rallies, attend indoor meetings carrying your helmet or pannier or other bike stuff, and let people know you’re a bicyclist. This is true especially for state and local officials.
In the recent transportation bill that passed less money was allocated for bike/ped infrastructure and is still only there at the whim of the states. To keep this funding - and to ensure elected officials *use* this funding - we need to let them know that we’re out there.
This may seem simplistic but I’m here to tell you as a person who used to lobby on behalf of bicyclists that it’s not. Many officials jut aren’t aware that there are people who bike in their districts, cities, or counties. When they think “bikes” they think safety programs for school kids, not infrastructure. We can help change that just by showing up.
